Are you constantly battling cold-like symptoms which never seem to improve?

Have you tried virtually every over-the-counter solution but have found no relief? If so, you—like approximately 4 percent of the population—could be suffering from nasal polyps.

Nasal polyps are soft, non-cancerous, and generally painless growths on the nasal passage lining, which hang down like teardrops. They can block nasal passages and cause frequent infections, breathing, and sleeping problems, and even result in the loss of smell. Read here for an article which explains more.

At the Sinus and Allergy Wellness Center, our experienced and highly-skilled ENT professionals can help you breathe easier again. We are committed to providing the highest quality sinus care to our patients and that starts with clearly diagnosing the problem so that we can determine the treatment plan that is best for you. If you are suffering from nasal polyps, you can rest assured knowing you’re receiving the highest-quality and most effective treatment options available for your condition.

Treatment Options for Nasal Polyps

After a thorough examination, your provider will identify the nasal polyp treatment option that will offer you the best results, as quickly as possible. First treatments for nasal polyps often include nasal corticosteroids to shrink the polyps, an oral or injectable corticosteroid such as prednisone (for severe nasal polyps which do not respond to nasal corticosteroids), antihistamines, antibiotics or even aspirin desensitization treatment. For more information see our article here.

When there is no positive response to any of the above treatments, nasal polyp surgery could be the next step. Nasal polyp surgery involves an endoscopic surgical procedure to remove the polyps. A small tube with an attached camera or magnifying lens is inserted into your nostrils and guided into the sinus cavities. Tiny surgical instruments are used in nasal polyp surgery to remove the polyps which are blocking the flow of fluids from the sinuses. In some instances, Dr. Gergits will also enlarge the openings which lead from the sinuses to the nasal passage as a nasal polyp treatment.

How The Sinus and Allergy Wellness Center Can Help

At the Sinus and Allergy Wellness Center, we provide the most advanced medical care and current sinus treatment options available. One of the newer surgical procedures for nasal polyps being used by the Sinus and Allergy Wellness Center is nasal polyp surgery, known as a polypectomy, which uses a microdebrider or small suction device to remove the extra tissues and polyps in the nose and sinuses. Larger nasal polyps, however, could still require endoscopic sinus surgery.

Another newer type of surgery offered by the Sinus and Allergy Wellness Center which can permanently relieve sinus swelling and pressure is known as the OPEN Procedure℠. The OPEN Procedure℠ involves inflating a very small balloon to open the sinuses and help them drain more efficiently.

If you are suffering from stubborn, recurrent polyps, we also offer a new technology called Sinuva™. This sinus medication insert has been recently approved by the FDA and is shown to be a safe and effective treatment for many chronic sinus issues.
